Licensing of Fr Clement Upton at The Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Sliema
On Tuesday 8th October, the St Paul Choral Society sang at the licensing ceremony of Fr Clement Upton, the new permanent priest at Holy Trinity Church, Sliema. The beautiful ceremony consisted of readings, prayers and some meaningful rites, to inaugurate Reverend Upton's new mission.
The Choir led the singing throughout the ceremony which consisted of the following :
Introit hymn: Praise to the Lord, the Almighty (CP558)
Gradual Anthem: Locus iste (A. Bruckner)
After the Sermon: I, the Lord of sea and sky (CP470)
Offertory hymn: Dear Lord and Father of mankind (CP411)
Sanctus & Benedictus: An English Mass (J. Vella)
Agnus Dei: An English Mass (J. Vella)
Communion anthem: Ave verum corpus (E. Elgar)
Communion hymn: Make me a channel of your peace (CP519)
Concluding anthem: Hallelujah chorus, from Messiah (G. F. Handel)
SPCS was conducted by Hugo and Cecilia Agius Muscat and the organist was Elisabeth Conrad.
The Chaplaincy of Holy Trinity is an independent Chaplaincy within the archdeaconry of Italy and Malta which in turn is within the Diocese in Europe.
The Church was consecrated in 1867 and is built in the early English Style.
Fr Clement became a priest in 1991 and served in the United Kingdom and Europe.
